CNMI Liberation Day Committee Opens Call for Participation in 78th Liberation Day Festivities
The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI)
Liberation Day Committee is excited to announce the opening of applications for Royal Court
Candidates, Parade Participants, and Food Vendors for the upcoming 78th Liberation Day
celebrations.
This year holds special significance as it is not only an annual event commemorating the
liberation of the CNMI, but this year commemorates the 80th anniversary of the historic Battle of
Saipan and Tinian, pivotal events during World War II. Liberation Day serves as a poignant
reminder of the sacrifices made and the resilience shown by the people of the Northern Mariana
Islands during this tumultuous period in history.
This year, the festivities are scheduled to take place from June 15 to July 6, 2024, promising
weeks of vibrant celebrations, cultural displays, and community spirit. Your CNMI Liberation
Day Committee invites all interested individuals to participate in various capacities:
- Royal Court Candidates: As a cornerstone of the Liberation Day celebrations, the Royal
Court plays a crucial role in honoring CNMI’s rich cultural heritage. Interested candidates
are encouraged to apply and showcase their cultural pride and leadership qualities.
Deadline to submit application is on April 19, 2024. - Parade Participants: The Liberation Day parade is a highlight of the festivities, featuring
colorful floats, traditional dances, marching bands, and community groups. All
organizations, schools, businesses, and individuals are welcome to join the parade and
contribute to the celebratory atmosphere. Deadline to submit application is on June 14,
2024. - Food Vendors: A diverse array of culinary delights awaits festival-goers during
Liberation Day. Food vendors are invited to showcase their specialties, offering a taste of
CNMI’s rich culinary delicacies to attendees. Deadline to submit application is on May
31, 2024.
