Saipan Lions Adopt Garapan Beach Area

Saipan Mayor Ramon Blas “RB” Camacho, members of the Office of the Mayor, and dignitaries joined members of the Saipan’s Lion Club for the ninth Adopt-a-Place ceremony last Friday at the Carolinian Utt in Garapan.

Joining club members, the mayor, and his staff were Sens. Jude Hofschieder (R-Tinian) and Corina Magofna (D-Saipan) and Reps. Vicente Castro Camacho (D-Saipan) Roy Ada (R-Saipan).

The adoptees, the Lions Club International Region 2 District 204, adopted the area between the Garapan Fishing Base, up to the Garapan basketball court near the Carolinian Utt.

Lions Club International Region 2 District 204 is composed of all 12 of the Lions Clubs on Saipan.

Saipan Eagles-Lions Club charter president Marie Javier said they are not only thankful to Camacho and other island leaders for giving them this opportunity, but this is also their way of becoming good citizens on Saipan. S

“We would like to know what the community needs so that we lions can also give our service to the community for the benefit of many,” she said.

Region 2 chair Anamae Adaza also thanked their partners in this project. “Everything we do with the Lions is done in collaboration and partnership so we can get things done. …The Lions Club is here to stay, are here to do much community service. At the same time we are changing the world in our own little ways,” she said.

Camacho is grateful to see community members, including the Lions Club, coming together, taking the responsibility, and stepping up to keep the island clean and beautiful. He feels these efforts bring the community together. “If we all work together we can accomplish a lot,” he said.
